Sri Lankans call it "Sri Pada" the sacred
footprint of the Buddha.
This famous mountain is one of the most venerated places in the
country, visited by thousands of pilgrims during the season, which
falls from the full moon day of December to the full moon day of
May. The trek lasts from midnight to early clown, Taking in the
unforgettable spectacle of sunrise over the sacred peak.
Traditional rituals are conducted at the temple on the summit.
Hindus, Christians and Muslims also venerate and visit the peak
for their own religious reasons.
