Dambulla :

The history of this rock temple goes back to the 1st centaury B.C. it's also known as the Golden rock temple enshrines a large number of Buddha statues of ancient days. Almost all caves are covered with fascinating frescoes of a bygone era using natural Colours. These frescoes explain "Jatakas" or previous birth's of the Buddha, before attaining Nirvana. Today this world famous temple attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourist through out the year.
