Negombo :

Also known, as Little Rome is situated 13 kms from the Bandaramayake International Airport.
The Portuguese and Dutch invaded Negombo during the 16th 17th centaury, which became a center for commerce and trade for world famous gems and spices.
Today a visitor can admire the fishing village where most of the fishermen still use the Catamarans and small ancient outrigger canoes. They gather every mooring at the
Negombo fish market with their catch of the day full of Prawns, Tuna, Skipjack, Mullet,
Lobsters etc.... Negombo is the ideal place to start or end a tour because of its close proximity to the Airport.
