Day I Airport/Negombo
Arrival and transfer to Negombo.
Afternoon City tour of Negombo, known as the country’s biggest Catholic town and the largest fishing village of the western part of the island. Visit the fish market and other places of interest. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 Negombo/ Anuradhapura
Leave after breakfast for Anuradhapura.
Afternoon Visit the countries oldest city, Anuradhapura dating back to the 5th Century BC, covered by vegetation. Discover the ancient ruins, beautiful man made lakes, Monkeys and birds. Overnight in Anuradhapura.
Day 3 Anuradhapura/Mihintale/Sigiriya
Leave after breakfast for Mihintale, the place where Buddhism was introduced to the country. Climb the 1880 steps and see the ruins of The 3rd century BC. The full moon in the month of June is called Poson, which commemorates the introduction of
Buddhism to Sri Lanka.
Afternoon Climb Sigiriya, 5th century AC Lion Rock. World famous for its historical frescoes, and wonderful water gardens.
Sigiriya today is one of the world heritage sites, also is considered to be the 8th wonder of the world. Proceed to the hotel for overnight.
Day 4 Sigirya/Polonnaruwa/Medirigiriya/ Elephant ride/ Sigiriya
After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa to visit the medieval capital of the country well known for its rock carved Buddha statues known As the Gal Viharaya and visit the old temples which are marvelous examples of Buddhist and Hindu culture.
Afternoon Visit Medirigiriya magnificent circular building, built to house stone carved Buddha statues belonging to the 8th centaury, which is similar to the Statues found in Polonnaruwa .
One-hour elephant ride across the village and in the jungle of Habarana.
Proceed to the hotel.
Day 5 Sigiriya/Dambulla/Matale/Kandy
After breakfast leave for Kandy en-route visit the Dambulla rock temple
1st Century BC also called as the Golden rock temple where you will discover some of the marvelous rock paintings of Sri Lankan history.
Nalanda Gedige, which is another hybrid of Buddhist and Hindu architecture.
Afternoon Visit a spice garden in Matale with a local cookery demonstration where you could enjoy the taste and aromas of the World famous spices since Early days. Visit a Hindu temple in Matale.
Arrive in Kandy.
Day 6 Kandy / Peradeniya / Temple of Tooth/ Kandy
Leave after breakfast on a city tour of Kandy, visit the city center, market area, Kandy museum & Botanical gardens
Afternoon Visit the Temple of the Tooth relic and witness a Sri Lankan traditional dance. Proceed to the hotel.
Day 7 Kandy/Pinnawela/Nuwara-eliya
Leave after breakfast for Pinnawela to visit the unique elephant orphanage, which was created to protect little elephants that were abandoned by their parents due to various reasons. Best time to visit the Orphanage is, the Time of feeding & bathing.
Afternoon Proceed to Nuwara-eliya by road, en-route visiting the world famous Tea plantations & Waterfalls, Vegetable cultivation and the terraced Paddy fields.
Apart from the number of photo stops do not forget to stop at a tea factory to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea.
Arrive In Nuwara-eliya late in the afternoon,
Walk around the city to discover the town with its colonial architecture beautiful Parks and the city center, Return to the hotel
Day 8 Nuwara-eliya/Yala or Udawalawa
Leave after breakfast to Udawalawa or Yala, arrive in time for a safari by jeeps. You will spend about 3 hours at one of the national park of your choice. Proceed to the hotel
Day 9 Yala or Udawalawa/Galle/Beach
Leave after breakfast towards Bentota or Kalutara en-route visiting The city of Galle.
Arrive at the beach hotel in the afternoon.
Day 10 Beach
Free for relaxation.
Day 11 Departure according to flight schedule
